David has a 22 year background in engineering. with 17 of those years spent as a qualified aeronautical engineer; initially with the RAF and latterly with the RNZAF based at Whenuapai.
During his time with the RAF, David served on numerous operational deployments in the Middle East as well as supporting NATO operations in Bosnia and Afghanistan. He was also selected as the mechanical engineer for the Tornado GR4 Display team.
Following his departure from the military, David worked as a Maintenance Engineer for an Auckland based company where, amongst other things, he successfully implemented a preventative maintenance programme. This had a huge impact on unplanned downtime caused by breakdowns and led to increased product flow and greater profit margins.
He then worked as NZ Engineering Manager for a large metal packaging company where he ran projects to deliver improved efficiencies whilst ensuring the products were ‘fit for purpose’.
He has also held roles in Business Development and Client Relationship management and loves nothing better than meeting with Clients to understand their needs and ultimately putting forward smart and sustainable solutions to meet those needs.
David lives in Havelock North with his wife Kirsty and three children. Outside work, he enjoys family walks, mountain biking and scuba diving.
